Wayne Community Health Centers

Shannon Thurston PA-C is a Physician’s Assistant who was born and raised in Pleasant Grove but has family ties to Wayne County. She worked in Moab for 6 years and most recently in Green River for 2 years. She attended Utah Valley University in Orem, UT where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology. She attended Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona where she received advanced training and earned her Masters of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed in the State of Utah. Shannon’s special interests include Preventative Medicine, Woman’s Health, Pediatric and Geriatric care.

R. Michael Peyton, LMFT is our Mental Health provider. He has been working with couples, families and teens for over 20 years. His experience includes working in outpatient as well as residential settings. Mike has also been trained in the use of rehabilitation services with equine therapy and applies this area of expertise in his work with family systems. He and his wife live in Wayne County and they have five children.

Dr. Daniel Smith comes to W.C.H.C. every two weeks from Richfield, Utah where he has a practice. He does our obstetric care and cares for W.C.H.C. admits to Sevier Valley Medical Center Hospital. He grew up in Wyoming and graduated from Christopher’s College of Medicine in Cambridge, England. 

Zach Snedeger PA-C was born and raised in Sevier County. He attended Southern Utah University in Cedar City, UT where he obtained his Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing. After working as a Registered Nurse for several years in a variety of settings including: Rehabilitation, Medical/Surgical, Operating Room and in an Intensive Care Unit, Zach attended A.T. Still University in Arizona. There he received advanced training and earned his Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies.  He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and licensed in the state of Utah. Zach’s special interests include Pediatric, Geriatric, Woman’s Health, Emergency Medicine, Diabetes, and Preventative Medicine.

Daniel Palmer PA-C is a Physician Assistant coming to Wayne County from Payson, Utah. He is married with four children. Daniel and his family love the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. Daniel graduated with a Baccalaureate of Science from Brigham Young University. He received a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Idaho State University and is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and licensed in the state of Utah. Daniel has received hand on medical training from rural Emergency Medicine in Arco, Idaho to the busy surgery floor at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. 

Dr. L. Jeffery Chappell M.D. is a family physician, our medical director and a Wayne County native who in 2004 left a busy practice in Richfield, Utah to join the Wayne Community Health Center. In addition to his work at WCHC, he is on staff at Sevier Valley Medical Center where he works part time in the emergency department. Dr. Chappell is also the director for the local EMS.
